Christine McKechnie Go Back!

Christine McKechnie (born 1943) trained at Southampton and Kingston Schools of Art in the early sixties. She started making her collages in 1968, her early work in this medium employed bold decorative papers, including foil among many others. She now uses almost exclusively, hand-painted Ingres and cartridge paper.

Christine was a regular exhibitor at the Royal Academy Summer Show in the eighties and nineties; in 1983 she won a special award for her work with paper. Her pictures feature in many private and some public collections.

Recently she has carried out many private commissions: she has exhibited annually since 2000 as a member of 'Artworks' the successful group of Suffolk artists, and has opened her studio as part of Suffolk Open Studios. She exhibited this season at the Glyndebourne Festival, Sussex, and in November at the Edmund Gallery.
